Web 2.0 has opened a new horizon in the field of Library and Information Science and it leads librarian to Library 2.0
According to Wikipedia, “Library 2.0 is a loosely defined model for a modernized form of library service that reflects a transition within the library world in the way that services are delivered to users…. ”
Implementation of library services using Web 2.0 has many aspects i.e. Wikis, Blogs, Social Networking, Forums, etc.
Use of social networking websites has increased tremendously in the last few years. Everyday you got invitations to join Orkut, Facebook, MySpace, Hi5, etc.
Facebook is very popular in librarians due to easy implementation of applications used by librarians like Worldcat (http://apps.facebook.com/worldcat/), CiteMe (http://apps.facebook.com/citemeapp/), IRead (http://apps.facebook.com/ireadit/), etc.
In future these social networking applications can be used to provide better services to our readers.
